FORMER BARCELONA COACH TITO VILANOVA IS DEAD AT AGE 45

Barca said in a statement: "The club expresses their deepest condolences over the passing of Tito Vilanova, who died today in Barcelona at the age of 45."
Vilanova, a former midfielder who spent his playing career largely in the Spanish second division, was diagnosed with cancer of the salivary gland more than two years ago and was forced to step down as Barca boss last July.
He was Pep Guardiola's assistant during a glorious four-year spell for Barcelona between 2008 and 2012 during which the club won 14 trophies.
Vilanova took over from Guardiola at the start of the 2012/13 season, but he had to take four months off between December 2012 and April 2013 for treatment in the United States after a recurrence of the throat cancer which had been first diagnosed in November 2011.
Barca went on to win the Spanish La Liga title, equalling the record points tally of 100, in his only season in charge before he finally resigned because of ill health.
Vilanova, who was admitted to a hospital in Barcelona last week, is survived by his wife, Montse Chaure, and two children. His son Adrian is currently in Barcelona's youth academy.

Meet the five Nigerian students arrested for Godwin Ayogu's murder

Five students of the University of Cape Coast, Ghana, have been arrested in connection with the gruesome murder of 19 year old Godwin Ayogu, who was also a student of the school. Sadly, all the students arrested are Nigerians, worst still, they were his friends. One in particular was his roommate.

The students arrested are: Ogunsanyo Abayomi (the roommate), Obi Mnaetochi Brendan Ilozumba, Oti Uchechukwu Chijooke, Jimoh Oluwatobiloba Timileyin and Isaac Ifidon (all pictured above).

It is believed that Ayogu was killed over money on the school campus. His body, with legs and hands tied, throat slit and intestines gushing out (last pic right), was then dumped at Amamoma on the outskirts of the university.
His cause of death after a post-mortem examination, was given as stab wounds to the heart. Continue

Actor Cuba Gooding's wife files for divorce after 20 years of marriage

Oscar-winning actor Cuba Gooding Jr's wife of 20 years has filed for separation citing irreconcilable differences.

TMZ reports that Sara Kapfer, Cuba's high school sweetheart, filed yesterday April 22nd in L.A. County Superior Court. The two married in 1994 and have three children together.

Sara wants joint legal and physical custody of their kids and isn't asking for child support currently.

Robbers Invade Mushin, Rapes, Burns Vehicles, Destroys Another 30 & Steals Other Gadgets

Over 60 robbers operated in Mushin yesterday night, invading 8 streets and raping young ladies. For reasons known to them, they burnt two vehicles and destroyed 30 cars. The operation which started around 12am ended at about 5am in the morning and the police never showed up. Some residents said the most amazing part was that some of the thieves later came back an hour after, around 6am and robbed till 7am again. It was such a beautiful scene to behold at the annual Lagos carnival which held today at the Tafawa Balewa square ground.
The richness of the cultural heritage exhibited by participants at the carnival was awesome....it was of high standard and could compete with similar carnivals globally.The carnival featured youths, mostly students in colorful costumes and floats dancing to music, while over 20,000 spectators were thrilled by the exercise.
The spectators included Lagos Gov. Babatunde Fashola, his wife, Abimbola, some members of the state executive council and some prominent Nollywood artistes.

Rape Accusation: Devil Brought Her To Put Me In Trouble- DPO Claims

The divisional police officer of Onikan police station, Mr Adekunle Awe, who a 31-year old mother of two, Idowu Akinwumi accused of raping her, has been detained. The police officer who was detained alongside two other police inspectors from his zone, said the devil brought the suspect to put him in trouble and he prays the Lord helps him secure his job.

Meanwhile the Inspector General of Police, Mr Mohammed Abubakar and Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola have declared their interest in the case. 

He is currently being detained at the State Police Command headquarters, Ikeja.

A jilted lover boy identified as John Otoreh in Ishiagu community near Asaba, Delta State, has allegedly killed his girlfriend and her sister after a minor quarrel which ensued over his inability to make love, Leadership newspaper reports. 

Reports said that the incident which took place on Friday evening in the community shocked residents especially the elders as the suspect before the incident had never displayed any serious notoriety.

How long have you been married?

2shotz: We have been married for a year. We got married April 12, 2013.

How did you meet?

Precious: I met him on Twitter. I can’t remember who followed who first, but I remember he put up a picture of his apartment and I commented without knowing who he was.  He thanked me and we got talking. We moved the conversation from Twitter to phone, then to Skype. I was in Ireland, came to Nigeria for Christmas and we met in person.

2shotz: I went to see her at a restaurant in Ajao Estate, Lagos. We had been talking on phone for a while before then. We ate, I went to drop her at home. Her family and friends knew who I was. Apparently, she did not know me until they started to hail me. Later, we went to a bar, had drinks there and we just clicked. It was not planned neither did I have it in mind that this was what I wanted to do. At that time, I was not trying to be in a relationship.

293 missing as South Korea ferry carrying students sinks

293 people, mostly students who were on a high school trip, are missing after a ferry capsized & sank in dense fog off South Korea's coast last night, local media reports.

A South Korean government spokesman told reporters this morning that there had been 459 people on board the ferry, including 325 students, 15 teachers, 89 other passengers and a crew of 30.

So far 164 people have been rescued, three confirmed dead, while hundreds are still unaccounted for. One rescued passenger told The Associated Press he believed that many people had been trapped inside the ship when it sank.

The ferry had been traveling to the southern tourist island of Jeju when it sank just three hours from it's destination. The distress call was made around 8p.m last night, 11 hours into the trip. Continue...

With proceeds from shows to mouth-watering endorsements, the Warri, Delta State born singer s now in the league of musicians that cruise in exotic cars and live in multi-million naira houses.

ENCOMIUM Weekly’s findings revealed that Omawumi’s performance fee has risen from N3
million (as at September 2013) to N5 million, depending on the show. And sources close to her say Omawumi performs at least six times in a month.

18 year old Missing Girl Found Dead, Raped by Gangsters while Working as a Prostitute!

Policemen attached to the Orile Police Division in Lagos State have apprehended two gangsters for allegedly raping and killing an 18-year-old commercial sex worker, Oluwatosin Ami. PUNCH Metro reports that the suspects, John-Paul Chukwuebuka, 19; and Ebuka Chimudi, 22; belonged to a gang which specialised in luring young ladies to hotels with the aim of dispossessing them of their belongings and raping them.

According to police authorities, on April 10, 2013, two members of the gang posed as customers and visited the Happy Day Hotel, Orile. Oluwatosin was approached by the suspects and she took them into her room at the hotel which she secured at the cost of N3, 500 per day.The suspects overpowered Oluwatosin and stuffed a cloth in her mouth to prevent her from screaming. She was also bound by the hands, while the suspects took turns in raping her.Afterwards, the suspects stole her phone and money, locked her inside the room, took the key and tossed it into a canal.
A relative of the deceased said the following morning, when the hotel attendants wanted to clean the hotel rooms, they knocked on Oluwatosin's door but there was no response. It was learnt that the  attendants then used a spare key to open the door and the corpse of Oluwatosin was found.

Photo: 10-Month Old Baby Miraculously Survives Nyanya Bomb Blast

A 10-month old baby who has been identified as Goodness survived the deadly Nyanya bomb blast which killed over 100 and injured about 124. Goodness is said to be the daughter of a petty trader who trades at the motor park. She was found among dead bodies while rescue team were trying to separate the bodies.

Through divine providence, the 10-month-old did not sustain any injuries in the blast apart from a slight swelling over one eye, which is being monitored by Doctors.

Her mother, Gloria Adams, who was initially presumed dead, has now been discovered in Intensive Care Unit at Wuse General Hospital.

“I cannot remember [how I got here]. I only saw myself on the ground, turning and turning. Then someone came and removed the baby.”  Gloria said.

Plans were already underway to transfer the baby to Wuse to join her mother.

“I’m feeling better, Many have died, but I am alive. I give glory to God,” Gloria stated.

A Pakistani student, Iftikiha Arslan, who is believed to be working for a Pakistani drug cartel, has been arrested at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos by operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for trafficking 25.4 kilogrammes of heroin.

Head of Public Affairs of NDLEA, Mr. Mitchell Ofoyeju, said the drug was discovered in the suspect’s luggage during inward screening of passengers on board Qatar airline flight. It was believed that Arslan left Lahore, Pakistan with the drugs to Abu Dhabi then to Doha from where he connected to Lagos. The estimated street value of the seized drug was said to be N228m.

Why 70-yr-Old HIV Patient Rapes, Girl 13

In Barkin Ladi Local Government of Plateau State, a 70-year-old man, (name, withheld) has been arrested for raping a 13-year-old girl last Thursday. The old man was said to have been caught in the act by the son of the landlord, who immediately reported the matter to the police.
According to our correspondent, the 70-year-old man who had initially confessed committing the crime, later denied it after some of his kinsmen told him to do so.
Mr Chris Olakpe, the Plateau State Commissioner of Police, confirmed the incident and said that the old man would be transferred to the headquarters in Jos.

At least not less than 15 buildings were damaged by heavy rainstorm yesterday morning at Ebute Metta area of Lagos as residents prepared to leave for church. Roofs of several houses were removed and a lot of properties destroyed. At least 10 vehicles were also damaged in the process.

Spokesperson, for National Emergency Management Agency, NEMA,  Ibrahim Farinloye, confirmed the incident and said the agency was assessing the damage and would come up with relief packages.

MH370 Hijacked, Passengers Held Hostage In Afghanistan Russian Intelligence Source Claims

Unknown terrorists are said to have taken control of the missing plane and forced it to land near Kandahar. A Russian newspaper has claimed that Flight MH370 was hijacked by "unknown terrorists" and flown to Afghanistan, where the crew and passengers are now being held hostage.

The extraordinary comments, attributed to a Russian intelligence source, appeared in the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper. The source told the paper: "Flight MH370 malaysia Airlines missing on March 8 with 239 passengers was hijacked.

"Pilots are not guilty; the plane was hijacked by unknown terrorists.

"We know that the name of the terrorist who gave instructions to pilots is "Hitch."

"The plane is in Afghanistan not far from Kandahar near the border with Pakistan."          

According to The Daily Star, Moskovsky Komsomolets also claims the passengers have been divided into seven groups and are living in mud huts with almost no food.

Twenty Asian passengers were said to have been smuggled into a bunker in Pakistan.

It is also claimed that the terrorists are possibly seeking to bargain with either America or  China .

We don’t even know what to believe again.

Popular Yoruba Actor, Femi Adebayo was attacked by suspected street urchins while shooting a movie in Ilorin, Kwara State on Monday. He was in his home state for a movie shoot when some suspected thugs stormed the set and demanded for some money.
The hoodlums allegedly attacked the Actor and the other members of the production crew, when they refused to heed to their demands.

In the process, Femi Adebayo got shot and has since been rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Frank Edoho and new wife, sandra, welcome their first child together

Frank Edoho's wife, Sandra Onyenaucheya, gave birth to the couple's first child together in the US recently. Frank revealed the good news to friends. Not sure if it's a boy or a girl but big congrats to them. Frank already has three kids with ex-wife Katherine Obiang, while Sandra has a child from a previous relationship.

Nigerian Olufunmilola Obe appointed New York police commander

NIGERIAN-born Deputy Inspector Olufunmilola Obe has been named as the new commander of the 28th Precinct of the New York Police Department (NYPD) making her one of the highest ranked diasporan police officer in the US. Ms Obe replaces Deputy Inspector Kevin Williams who has been given a new assignment at the Counterterrorism Bureau. Deputy Inspector Obe was appointed to the New York City Police Department in February 1994 and began her career on patrol in the 17th Precinct. 

She was promoted to sergeant in December 2000, lieutenant in July 2005, captain in September 2008 and deputy inspector in June 2012. Deputy Inspector Obe has served in the Midtown South Precinct; the 32, 25, 19 and 34 precincts and the Patrol Borough Manhattan North and Police Service Area 3.
Like most other Nigerians in the US, she holds two degrees having obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from City College and a Masters in Public Administration and Government degree from Marist College. Already, the African community in the New York region has paid tribute to her, pointing out that she is a good role model. 

Ogun Baby Factory: 2 Babies Named After Governor Amosun

The Ogun State Government has begun moves to reconcile victims of the Akute baby-making factory with their families. Also, 2 babies delivered after their mothers were rescued have been named after Governor Ibikunle Amosun: they are King David Etimbuk Omotoyosi Amosun and Queen Elizabeth Morayoninuoluwa Onyinyechukwu Amosun.

The Ogun State Commissioner of Women Affairs and Social Development, Mrs. Elizabeth Sonubi, while speaking with newsmen at the Stella Obasanjo Children Home, Ibara, Abeokuta  said: “We have sent correspondences to their respective state governments and some of them have responded and they are now willing to have them and ready for repatriation. Our mandate is to see to the survival and protection of the children and that is what we are doing currently".

I Can Start Thinking Of Marriage When I’m In My Late 30’s- Ice Prince

Ice Prince in a new interview with vanguard has said, he is not ready for marriage and will start thinking about it in his late 30’s. I don’t think I am planning to get married now because I am still young, I’m in my youth and moreover, I am just 27 years old. Maybe later in my late thirties I can start planning to get married or not, he said.

When asked what his real reasons were he said; It’s because I still have a long way to go before thinking of settling down. I can’t say because of what I have, that I am okay to get married, no. I don’t think I am mentally ready for marriage. I think before one could get married, one needs to attain certain level of understanding and awareness. I don’t think I have those qualities just yet.

He also spoke about his relationship and babymama; Yeah, but I wouldn’t want to talk about my girlfriend and about the mother of my baby. She is good and we are not talking about getting married because I’m not ready yet.

Banks Expose Female Bankers To Prostitution By Giving Them Unrealisable Targets- Female Delegate

Mrs Felicia Sani, a delegate at the on-going National Conference, has condemned what she called the exposure of female bankers to prostitution through unrealisable target set for them by their employers. She said such a trend which has had a great impact on socio-economic relationships should be discouraged.

SAD! ESWAMA Agents, Police Officer Beats 17-Year Old Boy To Death As Mother Laments

A 17-year-old boy has died after being beaten up with sticks by men of the Enugu State Waste Management Agency.

Before his death, the boy, Chidiebere Edeh, lived with his parents at 20 Ifenze Street in the Abakpa area of the state and was sitting for the ongoing Senior School Certificate Examination.

Punch Metro learnt that he died at about 3pm on Monday, nine hours after being beaten up by five ESWAMA agents and a police officer.

For allegedly trying to steal a year old girl from her parents’ house early this morning, a 31-year old woman is currently being interrogated by the police at Ajuwon Station for kidnapping. The suspect, Blessing Aransiola, was caught by the girl’s father, Mr. Seye Adanri, 34, as she attempted to escape with the girl, Oreoluwa Adanri.

Narrating the incident to P.M.NEWS this morning at the Ajuwon Police Station where the suspect was taken to, mother of the girl, Mrs. Adebisi Adanri, 29, who lives with her husband at 21, Ademola Coker Street, Alagbole, Ogun State, said she was woken up by the cry of her daughter in the hands of the suspect around 4.a.m.

“She was trying to run away when my husband ran after her and caught her. I raised an alarm to draw neighbours’ attention to the incident and everybody came out to assist us,” Mrs. Adanri narrated.

Film-maker, Frank Rajah Arase regrets introducing nudity into Ghollywood

 

The name Frank Rajah Arase rings a bell in Ghana as one of the best film-makers who have made great impact in the African movie industry. Although many think he is a Ghanaian due to his exploits in Ghollywood, Frank hails from Edo State in Nigeria and is happily married to a Nigerian.

In a recent interview with City People, he disclosed how much he now detests 'nudity in Ghanaian movies' and how he turned the likes of Van Vicker, Yvone Nelson, Jackie Appiah into celebrities.

"Well Heart of Men was actually my movie and we projected nudity in a very daring way. Before then, I got lots of mails from some of my foreign fans who said we love your movies but instead of creating love scenes where you have to put people under the blanket, take off those scenes but if you have to show the scenes, make it close to reality. 

That was one flaw people saw in my movies so I was like lets try to make this happen and maybe the devil was at work that day because everybody just complied and we started shooting, it wasn’t planned and it was one of those 5 mins madness so we shot it and after that, it was like an open door for a lot of nudity in our movies and I felt terribly bad for pioneering it and I have since cautioned myself. 

Till date I will never do movies with deep kisses talk more sex.I even had serious problems way back at home with my family over that movie, it was terrible and one of those hit movies I didn’t want people to always remember me with. Am doing my very best possible to create an image that people will see and not frown their faces. " he said.
