A family in Mexico have been jailed for plucking out the eyes of a 5-year-old boy during a satanic ritual intended to bring the world to an end.

Fernando Caleb Alvarado Rios was ordered to close his eyes out of respect with his mother, grandparents, aunt and uncles as they danced in a circle and called on Satan to reveal himself.
But the little child who was scared of doing so, got grabbed by his mother, Maria del Carmen Garcia Rios, along with the entire group of ritualists, grabbed a spoon and gouged the boy’s eyes out.

Neighbours who heard the child shouting rushed out but only to see the child screaming in severe pains.
Today makes it over two years since the incident happened in May 2012 and a court has sentenced the group to 30 years in jail each.
The family, from the town of Nezahualcoyotl, believed the ritual would bring them closer to Satan who could claim them as his own and save them from a deadly earthquake.
Neighbour, Joaquin Arguello, told the court, that he had always thought the family were devout and deeply religious, but had not realised that they were Satanists.
