National Conference delegates vote to tax churches, mosques
Delegates at the ongoing National Conference yesterday May 27th
voted unanimously for churches & mosques to pay taxes. The delegates
arrived at the decision after deliberating on recommendations made by
the Committee on Religion.
A delegate representing
Civil Organizations, Mallam Naseer Kura, during the deliberation
observed that most religious leaders in Nigeria are now making a lot of
money from their organizations and so should be taxed
accordingly.
Supporting his arguement, Isaac Ighure a delegate
representing the Nigeria Guild of Editors, in his submission said most
religious leaders had so much money now to buy jets while their
followers are living in abject poverty and asked that they should be
made to pay taxes. "Some people buy private jets when people in their
churches are suffering and living in abject poverty, they should be made
to pay taxes,” he said.
The recommendations to pay tax will be submitted to the National Assembly at the end of
the conference and if accepted by the National Assembly, it would then
be passed into law. Who agrees that religious organizations should pay tax?

Increment Of Fees: OAU Student Writes Open Letter To VC
Like most students, I have always admired you. From the very
first day I saw and heard you speak, I have since then even until now reserved
for you good judgements contrary to the very bad ones spreading like wildfire.
As much as I would have loved to sound obscene in this piece of mine, I choose
to maintain some decorum instead, as this is very much required at this point
in time. Cutting all craps and going straight to the point, avoiding every form
of side attractions and putting on hold every form of sentiments I might have
had and may still have for you, I consider it sad, absurd and utterly
inadequate the reasons you gave as regard the outrageous and unfair increment
in the school fees, save some few.

The remains of other people in the ship that was carrying
366 migrants trying to get into Italy illegally that caught fire and sank last
September, just two miles off the island of Lampedusa, killing almost all the occupants
in it, whom were mostly Somalis and Eritreans, have been found.
The most striking one was a young couple found clinging to each
other in the shadow of the sunken hull even in death. They were discovered this week after a boat carrying
hundreds of migrants sunk 100 miles south of Lampedusa. Despite desperate
rescue attempts, at least 17 migrants still drowned, with many still missing.

Nigerian Supporters Club Wants 62 Million Condoms For 2014 World Cup
Hehehe when I read this my first question was, are they
going to sleep with half of the country? 62 million what? Lol. Ok let me break
it down for you. UNAIDS is willing to give Nigerian supporters club 2 million
condoms for their stay in Brazil during the world cup, but Rafiu Ladipo the
President-General of NFSSC said 2 million condoms will only be good for a day
and not the purported 31days they are booked to stay, because Nigerian supporters
are quite much.
He appealed to UNAIDS to take their pleas seriously because
some fans might want to have sex after daily activities. So when you multiply 2
by 31 you get 62 million condoms. Good luck guys!
NOT IN 100 YEARS WILL BENFICA WIN A EUROPEAN CUP' - THE INCREDIBLE CURSE OF BELA GUTTMANN
Benfica called the Eagles were beaten in the Europa League final by Chelsea last season and last night by sevilla.
"Not in 100 years from now will Benfica win a European Cup." said Bela Guttman who was football coach of Benfica during 1961and 1962.Bela Guttman was born in Hungary in 1900;
The classic, most popular version claims that he decreed upon his acrimonious departure in 1962: "Not in 100 years from now will Benfica win a European Cup." The accuracy of that statement, however, is far from certain.
The reason for Guttmann’s abrupt exit from Lisbon was all about the Benfica management’s refusal to pay him a bonus for winning the European Cup twice in a row. Alternative theories say that he stated in an interview that it would be 100 years before another Portuguese team managed to win back-to-back European Cups.
Whichever account you choose to believe, all Guttmann’s predictions - real or fictional- have come true. The debt was never paid and European success has deserted the club ever since. The Eagles have reached the European Cup final on six occasions since Guttmann’s famous words and lost every time.
AC Milan dethroned them in 1963, Inter got the upper hand two years later, Matt Busby’s Manchester United won the famous Wembley final in extra-time in 1968, PSV took the title on penalties in 1988 and, finally, Milan were 1-0 winners in 1990, Chelsea last year and now sevilla yesterday.
hat historic final took place in Vienna, where Guttmann - who died 33 years ago last month - is buried, and the great Eusebio went to pray on his grave beforehand, asking for the curse to be removed. It didn’t help

You Should Be More Concerned About Taking Care Of Your Existing Children - Ms. Uduak Tells TeeBillz
Ms. Uduak is a blogger who blogs at www.africamusiclaw.com and she thinks
instead of TeeBillz and his wife replying Etcetera’s article, TeeBillz should be
more focused on taking care of his existing children with another woman in L.A
or more drama would unfold. Below is her advice to the couple. She also
spoke about Funke Akindele and Mercy Johnson’s marriages too. Oh well…
In recent times, we have seen highly controversial weddings
among female celebrities. The issue to my knowledge, in the public domain, is
not whether these husbands were “second hand” husbands but rather whether they
fulfilled their responsibilities to their children or ex-spouses( where a prior
marriage was concerned) before attempting to remarry, okay perhaps Actress
Funke Akindele’s marriage might have been the exception to the rule; but that
was justified under Islamic religion where a man can have more than one wife.
