Kano State governor, Musa Kwankwaso, has finally collected the All Progressives Congress (APC) ticket to contest the senatorial election for Kano Central, as his inlaw, who won the seat had surrendered the slot for him. This was just as deputy minority leader in the House of Representatives and a governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State, Kawu Sunmaila, said that he will not work for the party governorship candidate during the 2015 general election.
It had been confirmed that the name of the state Commissioner for Works, Alhaji Abba Yusuf, who had earlier won the ticket and submitted to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), had beer substituted with that of Kwankwaso.
It will be recalled that shortly after Kwankwaso was defeated by General Muhammadu Buhari at the APC national convention in Lagos, Yusuf, who is the governor’s son in-law, quit the race for his father in-law.
However, in a dramatic turn, and in line with the guideline provided by the Electoral Act, 2010, as amended, on the substitution of candidates, Yusuf’s name was submitted to the INEC as APC candidate for Kano Central.

However, the report indicated that Yusuf’s name was substituted with that of Kwankwaso late Tuesday in an attempt to beat the INEC deadline on substitution of presidential and National Assembly candidates.
Meanwhile, a governorship aspirant of APC in the state, Abdurrahman Kawu Sumaila, has said that he would only campaign for the presidential candidate of the party ,General Muhammadu Buhari .
Kawu, who disclosed this while addressing pressmen on Thursday , said he would remain by the “sideline” to watch how events.
His decision was based on the nomination of Professor Hafiz Abubakar ,as the running mate to the party’s governorship candidate, Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, a development that led to a crisis in the party in the state.
Thought it was been speculated that having step down, for the deputy governor,Dr.Abubakar Umar Ganduje ,rumour was making round that Hon.Sunmaila will be compensated with the deputy governorship position, but the reverse was the case.
It was this issue that angered the deputy minority lleader in the House of Representatives to took this step,to expressed his displeasure on how he was allegedly used and dump by the APC
He had given the party an ultimatum, which expired yesterday, to reverse its decision to nominate Prof Abubakar.Kawu, who represents Takai/Sumaila Federal Constituency, refused to clarify the initial speculations whether he would dump the APC for Accord party or not.
